We love the summer season in Columbus! With the summer season comes entertaining the kids while they are out of school. Personally, we enjoy taking the kids to a variety of spots around the city because there are always amazing (and sometimes free!) activities to take them to.
If your kids are nature-loving, you have to take them to Battelle Darby Creek to see the bison roaming and explore the nature center. Free programs like campfires, movie nights and nature classes are also offered and can be signed up for online at the Metro Parks website.
For your book worms, there are an abundance of summer reading programs located throughout Columbus. They offer story time, magic shows and even some awesome dance parties. Grandview Library also has a storytime on the lawn that you can’t miss!
Another amazing kid friendly place is in the downtown area of Columbus Commons. They have a carousel in the park that runs daily and free family movie nights so make sure you bring your lawn chairs!
We love to keep our kiddos’ brains sharp with a visit to one of the area’s awesome museums. To name a few, there is the Franklin Park and Botanical Gardens, the Ohio History Center and the Wexner Center for the arts. However, one of our favorites is COSI. The endless exhibits make a visit one to remember. We promise, the kids will be asking to return.
For your athlete, we recommend a Columbus Clippers game. The Clippers are a Cleveland Guardians affiliate team, but the atmosphere still feels like you are at an MLB game! Not to mention their dime-a-dog nights featuring 10 cent hotdogs.
Whatever you choose to do this summer, we hope you soak up some amazing moments with your kiddos.
Live Well, Columbus.
